Trees project sponsored by Shield
Tree-lined streets can be hard to come by in London but Shield Pest Control UK Limited is changing that, by supporting a local planting project.
Committed to being involved with the local community and with an eye on the environment, we’ve sponsored a tree through the Street Trees for Living project run by the Brockley Society and our sapling was planted outside the office in Salehurst Road last August.
With one new tree in place and flourishing, we thought our residential neighbours may like to get involved too, so we posted letters through their doors letting them know about our tree and how to sponsor one, or contribute towards one via the project.
We’re hoping to see a few more trees along the road to improve air quality, reduce traffic noise and provide some greenery in the area.
Alison Bennett, our Contracts Co-ordinator led the project and said: “It’s important to us to get involved with local initiatives and this was one we thought would benefit not only us but our residential neighbours too.
“We’re responsible for looking after the tree in its early years and we’ve been out there watering it and checking on it to make sure it’s growing nicely. In this summer’s heat we needed to keep an extra special eye on it.
“The response from our neighbours when we asked them to become involved was brilliant; several got in touch and asked to join in so we’re looking forward to having a few more trees around the area soon.”
The planting is done in late autumn and we’ll take some photos of the planting.
