On the road to zero: Shield Pest Control partners with XLCR Group to promote carbon-neutral company vehicle

As part of our commitment to tackling the urgent challenge of climate change, Shield Pest Control has partnered with XLCR Group to offset our company vehicle’s CO₂ emissions. This community initiative supports tree planting in school locations across the UK, helping to educate children and uphold wildlife habitats.

Vehicle usage is a significant contributor to CO₂ emissions. To reduce this impact, XLCR Group, in collaboration with the Woodland Trust and local school children, will plant 14 trees to offset the emissions produced by our Shield Pest Control vehicle. Vehicles that travel up to 15,000 miles per year, emit 3.28 tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere annually, totalling 13.13 tonnes over a four-year period.

Tree planting provides an effective solution, as each tree can absorb approximately one tonne of CO₂ over its 40-year lifespan. Ultimately, this means that planting 14 trees will help to neutralise our vehicle’s emissions completely.

By contributing to this initiative, Shield Pest Control supports the Woodland Trust’s goal of net-zero emissions and will gain our very own green fleet certification. Our commitment to a cleaner planet is reflected in our green fleet certificate and sticker, marking our business progress on the Road to Zero.
