We are delighted to share that Shield Pest Control and the Royal Warrant Holders Charity Fund has donated a sum of £4,000 to Bromley Borough Food Bank, helping the local community to get back onto their feet during the cost of living crisis. The cheque was presented to the charity on Thursday 16 February 2023 by our Managing Director, Daniel Steward and Shield team members, Alison Bennett and Emily Boorman, along with Charity Fund and Plowden Medal Manager, Claire Anderson of the Royal Warrant Holders Association Charity Fund.
Christine Harris, Deputy Mayor of Bromley and Bromley Borough Councillor also attended the event of handing the cheque to Chief Operating Officer of Bromley Food Bank, Amanda Stone. The donation is helping to provide nutritionally balanced emergency food and supermarket vouchers to support local individuals within the Bromley borough.
Working together to help to stop hunger in the local community, Bromley Borough Food Bank was founded by local churches and community groups in the area and is supported by the Trussell Trust. As part of the nationwide network of food banks the charity provides seven days’ worth of nutritious food to support those who are referred to them locally, which is higher than the recommended amount by the Trussell Trust. This has a better impact on client’s wellbeing as it gives them more breathing space and Bromley Borough Food Bank have said that the charity is fortunate to have received donations to allow them to do so.
Being able to afford daily necessities such as food items has been extremely tough for many people during the cost-of-living crisis. At Shield, we were keen to give back to the local community and provide emergency support for those in need, in the hope to reduce hunger in our local area.
To raise further funds for the charity, our team will be walking alongside Bromley Food Bank members in a half-marathon charity walk later this year, matching funds raised by members of staff. We look forward to continuing our support to Bromley Borough Food Bank with the charity walk, as well as within the future.
