What Does a Contracts and Compliance Manager Do?

Alison’s role involves juggling many responsibilities—each one essential to maintaining the quality and reputation of our services.

First and foremost, she handles client contracts. This means overseeing agreements with both new and existing clients, making sure everything is transparent, accurate, and in line with our company values. She’s the go-to person for any contract-related or client queries, always on hand to offer support and guidance with professionalism and care.

Beyond contracts, Alison is responsible for internal and external audits. She ensures Shield meets and maintains the rigorous standards set out by ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) certifications. Her role also covers Health & Safety compliance and Cyber Security, safeguarding both our employees and clients.

This behind-the-scenes work is vital—it ensures that Shield operates safely, securely, and with minimal environmental impact, while always striving to improve the quality of our services.

Supporting the Team

Alison is also a key support figure for our technician team, regularly helping with ad-hoc requests and making sure they have the resources they need to succeed in the field. Whether it’s helping to resolve a client issue or coordinating equipment and paperwork, Alison is always ready to lend a hand.

She also organises ongoing training for staff and technicians, ensuring our team stays up to date with the latest industry knowledge, compliance requirements, and best practices. From technical training to health and safety refreshers, Alison ensures that everyone at Shield has the opportunity to grow and develop professionally.

As part of her role, Alison often represents Shield Pest Control at high-profile client networking events, where she helps to promote the business, build client relationships, and stay on top of industry developments. She regularly attends outdoor fitness classes and enjoys long countryside walks, often with friends or family in tow. She’s also a keen netball player and serves as the Treasurer of her local netball team, helping to manage the team’s finances and support grassroots sport in her community.
